DC roads named for states
created by mapguy Mail
In the original city plan for Washington DC, diagonal roads were named after states. Since then, as the city has grown, each of all 50 state names has been assigned to a road in the District. This map shows one line for each state name (even if the actual road is comprised of two or more segments). The different colors represent groups of roads that run more-or-less parallel to each other; note the designed convergences at places like the Capitol and the White House.
