Angel Falls, near Bass Lake, Ca should be added to the map. From about a 5 minute hike from the parking area, than for at least an hours worth of a hike, it is clothing optional. Nude sunbathing, skinny dipping, etc takes place daily.

Although I am aware of the C/O beach at VAntage, (Silica Road exit and all the way down to the river)and we have visited the beach many times, we have seen a few other nudists just south of the Wanapum Dam State Park.

My friends and I used to visit Dirty Socks way back in 1964. It wasn't so fancy then, and it wasn't officially a nude hangout. But after a few beers, we'd strip down and jump in. In those days there was also a man-made rock island right in the middle of the pond. I wonder if it is still there?

Was there in Nov 2007 and the main soaking pool was in excellent shape with plenty of flow. The bailed it out and cleaned it and refilled it within an hour or so. The runway is also in great shape.

Tryed to go to clear creek on April 7/07. Road washed out in 3 different spots starting a 5 km. Impossible to get through with a 4x4, long up hill hike, hit knee deep snow, never made it to the springs.

Pros: Nice natural area.

Cons: High fast water during spring runoff.

Directions: Take highway 49 through Nevada City where it turns away from highway 20. Go about a tenth of a mile to North Bloomfield Road. Go north on North Bloomfield Road till the road comes to a T junction. Turn to the right. The road crosses the South Yuba River. There is parking near the bridge. Cross the bridge and take a trail downstream. The popular area for dipping is near where Spring Creek joins the South Yuba.

I do not have good directions to this hot spring. Fording the Colorado River does not seem like a good option and I can see no easy way down from the Nevada side.

I suspect that many people confuse this hot spring with Ringbolt a little further down the river and on the Arizona side where it is much more accessible.

Wanapum Dam Reservoir is located in central Washington a little upriver from the Vantage Bridge where I-90 meets the Columbia River about 5 east of Vantage. This is a popular watering hole for CO and Textiles so it might be advisable to use the farthest beaches on the weekends. The area has beautiful basalt rock formations good for rock climbing. The area also has good sailing and other water sports. It is also a popular spot for trail bikes along the sandy roads and trails.

The beach front is owned by the Grant County PUD and they have no objections to its use for nude sunbathing as long as there is no over night camping. Also the Grant county sheriff department has said the nude use is recognized and allowed as long as one uses commonsense when near others as not to offend any one. The owner of the adjacent property that is next to the beach itself has no problem at all with naturists. The only issue with him is that all people treat the property with respect by not defacing or littering. It is best to avoid being nude in view of the parking lot.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-90 to exit 143 (Silica Rd) about 7.9 miles east of Vantage. Turn under the overpass and follow approx. 1/2 mile to first intersection, turn left on Vantage Road, and follow to end about 4.5 miles. Road ends at waters edge and boat ramp. You will see a boat landing and a parking lot with no restrooms. Trail to left through gate about a 1/2 mile hike to beaches and a bluff with a good view.

With the inaccessibility of Meager Creek HS, Pebble Creek has taken on new interest. Though just up the road on the Lillooett River, instead of the perilous trip up Meager Creek, it is no less easy to get to, having to hike/scrabble down a sheer bluff to the river banks and then reverse the climb back out.

Many guidebooks have the location of these hot springs some 4 kms to the south (on Pebble Creek, hence the name, this creek is now named Boulder Creek). The springs are actually on the next major creek north that goes by the name of Falls Creek. The falls refers to the rather dramatic Keyhole Falls a little to the north on the Lillooett River, and the springs have taken this name in the past.

Pebble creek Hot Springs.

Pebble creek hot springs sits at the bottom of a steep trail on the bank of Lillooett river. To reach this hot spring drive the .7 km from the forestry camp to the junction you would turn left at for Meager H/s.

Instead of turning left as you would for Meager carry on straight, about .5 km from the intersection you see a mining/processing camp. Here they process pumice mined from the hills above Pebble creek. Pass this camp and drive a further 6 km, just short of the 6 km mark you will cross a spot where a creek crosses the road and the road climbs steeply. On your left there should be a pull out, enough space for about 4 or 5 cars and a small fire pit. This is the trail head, a small opening in the bush opens to a faint trail. About 100 feet ± along this trail the trail joins another faint trail. Turn right and follow the trail as it goes
along level at first then descending down. There are markers but they are sparse, after descending at a easy pace you come to a marvelous look out point. It is here that you will have to look harder for the trail.

Back away from the cliff edge and look to your right for a trail steeply going down and around the bluff. The trail is more of a slide at this point, grabbing onto roots and branches as you scramble down. Several switchbacks and some attempts by previous trekkers to put steps into the trail are visible. I found following the trail most traveled was the best way, although where some had taken short cuts or pushed debris off the trail made for some pondering. At the bottom of the trail I came across a tree stand where the tourism group have stored some items high up out of the bears reach. When you pass this the trail split, to the left was the camp and to the right the hot springs. Again down some more step sections you come out on to the river bank and the first pool.

Keeping to the right and traveling upriver there are several pools built
into the sand and further upriver when you come to rock cliffs again there are some pools built into the cliff. This sandy area is from what I see a good place to camp as well. Although be aware that it can and does flood washing away the pools. This was evident by the large logs that had been tossed up onto the cliff and surrounding area. So I'd keep
an eye on the weather, if it calls for rain or even high temperatures (glacial melt) camp higher. Getting out is going to be the toughest part, that steep trail down now becomes that steep trail up? It took all of 30 minutes to go down with all my uncertainties and pausing to take in the view at the viewpoint, closer to an hour to climb back out.

Was just there on the long weekend. Just wanted to note that by my
odometer the creek crossing the road was at about 6.8km from the turnoff
to meager creek and the pullout/trailhead was at 7.2km.

There was only one small pool that was clean, and maybe 105-110 (hotter than my hot tub). Just big enough for 2 people really, and not very deep.

Located in the Hot Springs Campground in the Sheldon-Hart Mountain Nation Wildlife Refuge.

The hot springs at the refuge campground has been rebuilt, with scenic natural rock walls replacing the ugly cinder blocks. It's mesmerizing to soak in the 102-degree water and look for rocks in the shape of states.

The springs are natural . . . the waters bubble up from a gravel bed in the bottom of the pool.

They are accessible all the time without charge.

The pool can accomodate about six people. During the summer months there is a camp host on-site. During the other seasons, this campground is easily accessible by maintained roads which nevertheless can be difficult in winter. Nudity only with a level of discretion.

Driving Instructions: Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge, and Antelope Hot Springs are 67.4 miles northeast of Lakeview. From the junction of Highway 140 and Highway 395 in Lakeview, head north to the point where they diverge and Highway 140 continues east, 4.6 miles. Turn right and drive to the turnoff for Hart Mountain and Plush, 15.8 miles, between mileposts 15 &16. Turn left, onto Country Road 313, and drive to a crossroads in Plush, 18.8 miles. Turn left and continue to Country Road 3-12, signed for Hart Mountain, 0.9 miles. Turn right and drive generally east to the end to the end of the pavement, 13.4 miles (do not get sidetracked by another country road). Now on gravel, drive to the refuge headquarters, 9.6 miles (the last three are steep). Bear right at the junction just beyond the headquarters and drive to the turnoff for the bathhouse at the hot springs, 4.1 miles (go right when the road forks). Turn right and drive on a rough dirt road to parking near a cinder-block building, 0.2 miles.

Savary offers vast beaches and terrific swimming in clear, warm waters on the north shore; big rollers and great surfing on the south. South Beach is the island's clothing optional beach, which is popular with day trippers who boat over to the island. The tides moving from the north and south of the Georgia Strait meet just north of Savary, causing little water movement, creating wonderful sun-baked warm waters.

People travel to Savary Island via Lund, a beautiful little town which lies 24 miles north of Powell River.

The Lund Water Taxi transports you to Savary Island wharf. This service is operated by Al and Gina Wood. They'll transport you to Savary, along with your pets, plywood, concrete, coolers and just about everything else you could possibly think of bringing. Phone first to make sure they're available. A nice long sandy beach with shallow water and not many people. Definitely nude friendly. Just follow the signs west from hwy59 to Beconia and keep going west onto the gravel road. Park in the gravel lot at the end of the road. Follow the beach south until you see a fallen tree with "Nude past this point" painted on it. This beach is "same-gender" friendly.

: Juniper Dunes Wilderness

Desert sand with rare Juniper trees and other low vegetation. 19,860 acres with 3,920 open, 8,620 limited to designated roads and trails (area of critical environmental concern), and 7,140 acres permanently closed. The topography is characterized by flat or rolling relief caused by wind deposited sands and silts. Vegetation in the area is comprised of a mosaic of habitat type ranging from those dominated by sagebrush and rabbit brush to open grassland with scattered Juniper trees. Land use includes hiking, camping, hunting, & horseback riding. Summer temperatures can reach well over 100 degrees F and can plummet to near zero degrees or below in winter.

Directions: From the intersection of Highway 12 and Lewis Street in Pasco (near highway mile marker 293), head east on the Kahlotus highway. Travel six miles to Peterson Road. You will see a VERY large yellow mailbox at the intersection (you can't miss it). Take a left onto the gravel road. Keep the speed down, as the few households along this stretch are sensitive to the noise and dust and keep a watch for speeders. Travel straight ahead through the stop sign one mile down the road. One more mile and you'll encounter the Juniper Wilderness area entrance sign. It won't look like much at this point -- you're not there yet. Watch your odometer closely after this entrance sign, as you don't want to miss the next turn, which has no sign or significant landmark (this is where most people get lost). The road becomes dirt only (no gravel). At two miles you'll reach what is currently the second intersection past the entrance sign -- turn right. Less than a quarter mile on the left is a parking area, with a sign-in board. The road continues on to the actual entrance of the wilderness area (still another four miles), but it gets alot rougher. I would not recommend a car beyond this point -- a minimum of a 2WD truck is needed. This parking area is popular with ORV enthusiasts -- mostly dirt-bikes and quad-runners; 4WD vehicles being seen as too destructive. Some of the world-class sand dunes are a short distance furthur, but still out of view. Continue down the dirt road for another three miles. A road to the right will have a small sign pointing the way to the wilderness area one mile away. This road is very sandy and requires a 4WD or off-road-capable motorcycle to ensure that you don't get stuck. Follow this road until you reach a fence with a walk-through-only gate and a sign-in board.

Impressions: Inside the fenced region (around fifty to a hundred square miles), the chance of encountering another person is extremely remote. I have never had it happen. The sign-in sheet gives an indication of the presence of any others. Usually, you will find that you are the only person(s) there. The dune area outside the fence often contains a handful of dirt-bike riders, which can be heard at a distance. This means that carrying a cover-up is not necessary. On nice days one can simply tank up on food and water, then head in with nothing more than a pair of sunglasses for the day and maybe some sandals if your feet are soft. Some care is prudent when entering the fenced area, however. Remember, you are on your own! There is no water available and there are no developed trails. Campfires are not permitted; only portable campstoves. Think WILDERNESS. If you're the sort with no sense of direction, it would not be at all difficult to get lost. The terrain consists generally of rolling hills for as far as the eye can see, with no towering landmarks to act as reference. Attention to detail is important, though you technophiles could instead tote a GPS receiver or a trusty compass. The best time to visit is in the spring, ideally soon after a rainshower. You'll find many plant varieties in bloom, giving the terrain a splash of color. Moisture makes the ground more firm for easier travel, especially on the roads. Second best visiting time is in autumn. The temperatures are moderate and there are a few plant varieties that bloom then. As in the spring, the air is filled with distinct scents. Summer temperatures can easily climb well over one hundred degrees F. The humidity is quite low, so it's not that uncomfortable as long as you have plenty of water. As in most desert climates, the temperatures can get significantly cooler at night -- dropping from a hundred-plus down to mid-seventies. One summer nuisance to be aware of are the invader species of plantlife. The cheatgrass is growing in areas, particularly widespread around the perimeter. This grass dies in early summer, leaving pointed seeds that work their way into everything. If you wear socks or closed shoes, you won't penetrate very far before being turned back. It's best to wear open sandals or thongs -- spring is about the only time one can travel barefoot, while the grass is still green. Just watch for the occasional patch of prickly pear cactus. Fortunately, the tumbleweeds and tackweed haven't established themselves too well yet in this area.

No water and no facilities, so bring everything you need.
