The gold standard. This place has a line out the door and down the block on the weekends. It's really easy to get to on the train, I promise.

Right down the street from Tangra Masala. Owned by a very friendly Chinese Indian. My chili chicken lunch special came with soup and fried rice and only cost $4.95.Very basic ambiance. Check it out if you don't want to wait in line.

Ok, this place calls itself a fusion restaurant, which means I would never eat there unless I was in the know. It's right on Queens Blvd in Sunnyside, so the best first trip out for the Queensphobic. Classic Chinese decor inside. All Chinese servers, all South Asian customers. Best mango lassi ever. Owned by the same folks as Tangra Masala.

The exception to the Chinese-owned, Indian-patronized rule. Biriyani House is an Indian restaurant that serves Indo-Chinese on the weekends. The server there told me that they have a special chef who comes in on the weekend just for the Indo-Chinese crowd.

The guy on the phone told me the place is actually called Royal Indian Oasis, but it's hard to find on the web under that name. He also assured me they serve Indo-Chinese food. This one is too deep in trainless Queens for me. Let me know how it is if you have the time, inclination and a car.
