McAbee was assistant vice president of human resources for Duke University and Health System prior to coming to N.C. A&T. She previously served as director of human resources, Magee-Women’s Hospital, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and regional manager of human resources for ADVO, Inc. McAbee was also an assistant vice president, HR, for Dollar Bank, Corporate Headquarters in Pittsburgh. In addition, she was affiliated with Koppers Company, Inc., Corporate Headquarters, in Pittsburgh, as manager of professional employment, supervisor of professional employment, supervisor of office and administrative employment and a sales representative for the Forest Products Division.

McAbee is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, a former Pittsburgh Urban League Board member and a Parent and Child Guidance Center Executive Board member. She is a former Pittsburgh Regional Engineering Program Board of Directors member and a former Middle Atlantic Placement Association Executive Board member.

An honors graduate of Spelman College, McAbee received TQA, QAT and VOC instruction certification from Organizational Dynamics, Inc. She has participated in Customer Service Leadership Training from The Disney Institute and Fuqua School of Business & Coach K Leadership Training at Duke University.
