Marker reads, Home site of Thomas Clay McCreery. Born in 1816. He died in 1890. He was one of Daviess Countys most distinguished natives, an accomplished lawyer, orator, and farmer. A presidential elector in 1852, 1856, 1860. United States senator from 1868-1871, elected to fill an unexpired term, and from 1873-79. Grandson of Thomas Clay, Revolutionary officer, legislator.
