Object to secure Muldraughs Hill against anticipated onrush of Confederates toward Louisville and to rally Kentuckians to Union cause. Confederate States Army General Simon Bolivar Buckner took Bowling Green, establishing Confederate line across Kentucky, but failed to push north. No major action occurred.
