Marker reads Home of James B. Clay, son of Henry Clay. Designed by Major Thomas Lewinski, as an Italianate villa. Floor plan consisted of central hall with 4 rooms on each floor. Thomas Clays home, Mansfield, on Richmond Rd. designed at same time. James Clay 1817-64 practiced law with his father; charge daffaires in Portugal, Congressman and member of Peace Commission, 1861.
