Marker reads, Four hundred yards west of this site, December 17, 1861, Colonel B. F. Terry, 8th Texas Cavalry, CSA, was killed. He was leading his Rangers in a charge against troops, formed in a hollow square, of the 32d Indiana Volunteers under the command of Colonel August Willich. Presented by Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans.
