Marker reads, Owned by Squire Henry Pierce Bottom, it was a key position in Battle of Perryville, Oct. 8, 1862. At the beginning of battle, held by United States Army troops. After a massed attack, Confederates took the house and held it. The battle over, Bottom identified and buried Confederate States Army dead.
