2nd Hospital (1st Good Shepherd)

This is the second Hospital in Hermiston; it opened in 1953 to replace the old hospital which was far too small. Construction was complicated; in hopes to give incentive to investors, the builders began construction before enough money was made (1946). The Lutherans sponsored the funding, but didn't get nearly enough funds. Just the floors and walls stood for a number of years before a government grant (Halaburton) was taken to finish the building. A wing was added in 1962 and later the entire hostpital was abandoned around 1985 due to asbestos.
