Marker reads, October 8, 1862, during Battle of Perryville, General James Withers troops of General Kirby Smiths Confederate States Army attacked United States Armyforce of General Joshua Woodrow Sill near Fox Creek while Smith skirmished with Sills rear guard. Many Union prisoners and 20 wagons captured. A Confederate shot seven Federals but later was killed. He with four others are buried in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
