Arlene has been playing with paint for twelve years. She works out of her studio located in her home, and also enjoys plein air painting at different events and locations. Her vibrant abstract works are the result of the continuing excitement she feels every time she picks up a brush. Colour, texture, form and line are her tools.

Arlene’s latest inspiration is her garden where she paints in good weather. The most recent technique she practices is drizzle – where the paint is drizzled instead of brushed onto the canvas.

Composition, colour and form come naturally to me. I paint intuitively often creating work as I go along. In my I paint images that have appeared in my dreams and meditations. The composition and colour are decided during the painting process itself. I work continually in flux. My style is easily recognized through my strong emphasis on shape and form. Colour plays a dramatic role too; tying together composition, technique and subject.
