As Proud as...

'As Proud As...' (1998-2000) by Shona Kinloch.

Located in Springfield Court, adjacent to the east entrance to Princes Square, Glasgow.

The title of this piece, like many of Shona Kiloch's other sculptures, playfully leaves a well known saying unfinished. In this case she is referring to: "As proud as a peacock".

Behind the imposing upright figure, hands clasped and head held high; stands an equally proud looking peacock.

This was perhaps designed to mirror the iron peacock sculpture which marks the Buchanan Street entrance to Prince's Square.
