Assult of taxi driver, Westcourt

An 18-year-old Westcourt woman is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later today following the alleged assault of a cab driver outside a Hogan Street residence on Saturday morning. It is alleged that the woman had entered the cab in Manoora and requested to be driven to Hogan Street where upon arrival she refused to pay the fare. It is further alleged that she then pushed the vehicle door against the female driver, striking her in the head with the window glass. The driver then left the location and notified Police. The alleged offender was subsequently charged with evading a cab fare and assault. The driver was not injured as a result of the incident.
