Driving directions from Atlanta Airport to Highlands:

From the airport, take I-85 North towards downtown Atlanta (I-85 will merge with I-75). After you pass the downtown exits, I-75 and I-85 will split, stay in the left hand lanes and follow the signs for I-85 North towards Greenville and Gainesville.

On the north side of Atlanta, stay left on Interstate 85 and bear onto I-985. Follow the signs towards Gainesville (NOT Greenville). Stay on this road (it will change names from I-985 to I-385 to Highway 441). You will go thru a small town after Clayton, GA called Mountain City – watch your speed - the speed limit is 45 mph and it is strictly enforced. Don’t let a speeding ticket spoil your visit.

The next small town is Dillard, Georgia. At the only stop light, turn right. There is signage for Highlands. This is a 15 mile, somewhat winding road, ascending about 2,000 feet. Welcome to Highlands
