Atwel Boulders

Category: boulders with problems

Used in the following map:

Boulders in the Adirondacks

There are 2 boulders on your left as you are walking in. as you cross a tiny stream follow the stream uphill a few feet and these boulders will be apparent, the first has some V0 problems and the second has a maybe V1 problem with harder project on the over hanging section to the left.

Farther along the trail you will notice the Haystack boulder on the right which in my opinion is the most prominent, largest and has some pretty hard projects on the overhanging side. On the left lower side of haystack there is a hand traverse from right to left that wraps around that side of the boulder that is nice and also an easy V0 problem with a mantle that is used to gain the top of the boulder, about the center of the hand traverse.

The boulder I called cherry probably already has a name but not sure how to find out what it is. As you walk in on the road you come to the obvious boulder named Haystack and the Cherry boulder is very close (just down the hill from the overhanging section of haystack.

There is a boulder just to the left of the Cherry boulder looking from the Haystack boulder with an extremely low angle right side with 2 established problems and one project on the overhanging side. one problem climbs the arette just left of the low angle section and the other is left of that maybe V1 not sure.

There is also a boulder that is maybe 100 yards away from the previous boulders, not sure of the direction that has about 4 problems on it.
