Auschwitz-Birkenau became an established death camp in September of 1941. It was the larger and most notorious death camp, killing approxmately 2 million peopel, 1.5 million of which were Jewish. Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp chose to use Zyklon-B gas to kill the great number of people that they did. Soviet Troops liberated Auschwitz-Birkenau on January 27, 1945.
