The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is located in the center of the Milan at the Piazza del Duomo. Opened in 1867, the arcade is considered to be one of the greatest Arcades in the world, due to its size, scale and urban planning. Its architect, Giuseppe Mengoni, fell to his death from scaffolding during its construction. It is believed that this arcade, widely published at the time of its construction, was the inspiration for the Old Arcade in Cleveland.
