The mission of Banner Sun Health Research Institute is to be the preeminent interdisciplinary research institute devoted to world-class basic and translational research, clinical care, prevention and education.
Banner Sun Health Research Institute will continue to be a global force in research activities. We will provide excellence in our work and research by linking best practices to clearly defined roles and responsibilities with integrity and accountability.
Banner Sun Health Research Institute was founded in 1986 as a private, non-profit biomedical research center dedicated to the study of age-related diseases.
With such a mission, the Institute is located precisely where it belongs -- in the heart of a major retirement center, the Sun Cities, Arizona, which are part of the greater Phoenix area.
It is one of the largest populations of aging adults in the nation; as such, this demographic affords unparalleled opportunities for basic science and clinical investigations of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, arthritis and cancer.
Scientists at Banner Sun Health Research Institute have had a significant impact on how physicians diagnose and treat diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and arthritis. Founded in 1986, the Institute is one of just 31 national Alzheimer's Disease Core Centers in the nation. Research at the Institute is funded by grants from such agencies and foundations as the National Institutions of Health, the Michael Fox Foundation and private donations.
