They call this Battery Park because back in the day there was a gun battery here that guarded New York Harbor. Now, it's a 23 acre park that encompasses the largest open space in downtown NYC. Easy access to the Staten Island Ferry and great views of the harbor. Get here via the 1/9 subway line to South Ferry.
