Bishops Castle
Category: Marker/sign
Marker for Bishops Castle, Cathedral Precinct.
Glasgow used to have its own castle. In the 13th century, the Bishop of Glasgow built a castle for himself which stood until 1792. This small marker shows where it stood, and on the cast plaque on the north face, is a picture of what it looked like. The marker is made of granite with flowers and thistles carved into the stone. It was presented by Lord Dean Guild Francis Henderson in 1912.
