Police have charged a 19-year-old tourist with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed after he allegedly hit a security officer on the head with a glass after being evicted from a Cairns hotel at about 2.20am this morning. The 26-year-old security officer sustained a 6cm gash to his forehead and received treatment at the Cairns Base Hospital. The man will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
