Burglary offender arrested, Cairns City

Police arrested a 23-year-old Parramatta Park man early on Friday morning following an alleged burglary at a Grafton Street backpacker facility. It is alleged a man entered the complex shortly before midnight on Thursday and allegedly stole a quantity of property from a room that was being used by a number of international visitors. One of the guests apprehended the man after he allegedly tried to flee. A quantity of property was recovered and the man was charged with six offences including entering a dwelling and stealing and entering with intent. He has been remanded to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on February 9.
