To help to improve the quality of life of residents at the local mental health hospital, the Century FFA chapter rebuilt a greenhouse for residents to use to grow a vegetable garden and flower bed. Â Vegetables grown in the greenhouse provided fresh produce for use by the facility and maintenance of the space provided a sense of self-esteem and independence for participating residents. Â Through this project, 60% of the residents of the hospital were involved in the growing of vegetables and flowers, and the local community was made aware of the FFA's involvement through the distribution of a short DVD which showcased the phases of the project and provided testimonials by the hospital residents.
