Children Of Glasgow Fountain,
Beside Glasgow Museum & Art Gallery
Kelvingrove Park
This unusually shaped fountain was completed in January 1991, and celebrates two important events in Glasgow's recent history - European City of Culture in 1990, and Glasgow International Garden Festival in 1988. Most of all the fountain celebrates children. The bas-relief moulded figures around the base show children playing and having fun, and a dog running about. It was designed and built by the sculptor Michael Snowden. It is around 20 feet tall and is made of steel.
