What are some of the ways slaves were transported and hidden during transport on the Underground Railroad?

1. Running: Slaves had to make some of the way to freedom by foot making sure to avoid the bloodhounds by walking through swamps and rivers.
2. Wagons: Slaves were hidden within hay of a cart or even under a false bottom of a wagon.
3. Boats: Slaves traveled across rivers on rowboats manned by conductors and into Canada on ships.
4.Boxes: One slave named Henry Brown built himself a crate with air holes and got a sympathetic shoe dealer to ship him to the free states.
5. The Railway: Slaves were snuck aboard railway cars or disguised as packages.
