Couple charged over armed robbery, Cairns

A 36-year-old Cairns woman and a 27-year-old Cairns man are due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later today following the alleged armed robbery of a male motorist at North Cairns on Saturday morning. Police allege the man was driving his utility along McLeod Street when he pulled over to take a telephone call. A woman then allegedly approached the man and produced a knife. Another male then also approached and the driver then exited the vehicle. The couple then got into the vehicle and drove off. The alleged offenders were later located in Charles Street and taken into custody before being charged with armed robbery. The 29-year-old male driver was not injured as a result of the incident.
