Couple charged over Whiterock assault

Edmonton Detectives have charged a 21-year-old Bentley Park woman and a 30-year-old Whiterock man with assault occasioning bodily harm whilst in company. The charges follow an investigation into an incident at a Hopkins Street residence shortly before 1pm yesterday. It is alleged the pair attended the residence and a verbal dispute ensued, during which the man allegedly struck a 21-year-old man with a piece of timber. The victim sustained a laceration to the forearm as a result of the incident. They are due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 26.
