June 4, 1869 Residents of Taylorville awoke that morning to find that the evening rains had also brought unkown serpent like creatures with them. They measured 18"-24" in leagth three quarters to one inch thick, dark in color with a flattend tail.they had no fins, an eel-like head and a suckerlike mouth, small eyes, and a single pair of perfectly formed appendages — similar to those of a turtle just behind the head.
