Cyclist charged with high range drink driving, Manunda

A 19-year-old Earlville man was charged with driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of liquor after being intercepted on his bicycle on Tuesday night. Police stopped the man on Lennon Street after he was allegedly observed to be riding in an erratic manner. The man was breath alcohol tested and allegedly returned a reading of .157%. He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on March 2. The Queensland Police Service would like to remind cyclists that bicycles are deemed to be a vehicle and it is an offence to ride them whilst intoxicated.
