The Ohio Learning Network's Learning Communities

Institution: The Ohio State University & Columbus State Community College

Goals:
This community will develop a proposal for a $3,000,000 National Science Foundation project, manage the project, if funded, and revise the proposal if not funded. This five-year multidisciplinary project will increase the quality and quantity of students with disabilities completing associate, baccalaureate and graduate degrees in STEM disciplines and who are well prepared for the professional workforce.

The interdisciplinary and intercollegiate group developing this proposal will be an FPLC, and we will build learning communities into the NSF project. In year one of that grant, at least four FPLCs will be organized among the central Ohio institutions, aimed at enhancing the recruitment, retention, persistence to degree, and career placement for students with disabilities in STEM fields.
