D.light began in India with a prototype lamp developed by a team of engineers and designers studying together at Stanford University. The lamps offer up to 90% savings to users (much cheaper than kerosene), better light for studying and health benefits from eliminating kerosene fumes. They aim to serve 10mn people worldwide by 2020.
