THE Babinda Hotel closed its doors early on Saturday night to stop two families from fighting. Police from the Far Northern Region Tactical Crime Squad were called in to assist local police as a fight brewed at the pub at 11pm. Police said one of the families had tried to call the other family outside to fight, but the fight did not eventuate.
