Female assaulted, Collins Ave, Edgehill

Police are investigating the attempted robbery and assault of a 62-year-old overseas tourist at Collins Avenue Edgehill around 12.00 Saturday afternoon. The victim was walking behind her family when she was approached by two men aged around 18-years walking a dog. The men attempted to grab the victim’s handbag and pushed her to the ground when they were unsuccessful. The woman received pain to her rib area as a result of the incident. One man is described as being as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance, around 18 years, 185cm tall, slim build with black hair. He was wearing a black shirt, dark jeans and had a gold chain around his neck. Police believe that the man was possibly walking a dog similar to a Rottweiler. The second man is described as being as being of Aboriginal appearance, around 18 years, 170cm tall and of slim build.
