Five charged over property offences, Woree

Police have charged five people with a total of 23 property offences following their arrest at Woree yesterday. Police were investigating a number of burglary offences in the area when they located a group of the alleged offenders in a nearby park and were apprehended shortly after. A substantial amount of allegedly stolen property was recovered, including audio & video gaming equipment; cash, jewellery and phones. Two youths aged 14 and 15 will be dealt with under the provisions of The Youth Justice Act 1992. A 17-year old man and two 18-year-olds are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on July 11. Investigations into the incidents are continuing.
