Dear Massa Ross

I just wanted to thank you so much for what you did for me. I can die happy now that I have felt freedom. I have been in Canada for 6 months now regaining my strength that the plantations and the journey stripped from me. I also have been working hard saving up money as I plan to return to the south and work to free slaves. I know the risks that I face but I know so many good men and women that don't deserve the life that they are faced with. I have had the pleasure to meet Harriet Tubman while I was working in St. Catharines and she has taken me under her wing teaching me all I need to know to survive the journey back south. She has taught me how to forge my free papers to avoid the slave catchers and tricks on avoiding the bloodhounds. As soon as I have saved enough money I plan to head back to my home plantation in Virginia and help as many slaves as I can escape. Thank you for giving me this life of choice. Without you I would be lost.
