Freshwater assault investigation continues

A major incident room has been established at the Cairns Police Station in response to the serious assault of a woman at Freshwater on Tuesday morning. Detectives are still working to establish the woman’s identity as well as her movements prior to being located. The woman was found unconscious at a bus stop near the intersection of Kamerunga and Old Smithfield Roads at about 1.30am. She later died in Cairns Base Hospital.
