This was formerly a german POW camp from WWI, but as a result of it being run very well, a unique bond was formed between the German POWs and the local community here. The result, years later, is the Desutsche Haus. There is a museum portion, detailing the history of the area, with many models (both miniature and life-size), as well as lots of German cultural items of interest. There are frequently cultural festivals held here, and there is a fairly extensive German wine (and apparently beer) store downstairs.
