Gilbert's Hill
Category: Abandoned Ski Areas
**July 2005, 2007**
Trails: Still as they were 70 years ago: Rolling hills and pasture land, with scattered tree islands breaking things up.
Lifts: The ropetow installed on this hill was the first ski lift EVER installed in this country, and it still stands today (minus the rope) as a testament to the era. I have heard that it still may run occasionally during re-enactments.
Facilities: None...really.
Accessibility: Although at first glance the land appears to be private, the current owners are aware of the historical significance of the hill and allow hike up/ski down skiing. Best access to the skiing is probably via Gully Road.
