The date when the Conflict in Darfur begun is debated. There are the 3 candidates:
1. 21 July 2001, when a group of Zaghawa and Fur met in Abu Gamra and swore oaths on the Qur'an to work together to defend against government-sponsored attacks on their villages.
2. June 2002 when the Rebels launched an attack on the Golo Police Station
3. 26 February 2003 when a group calling itself the Darfur Liberation Front (DLF) attacked on Golo, the headquarters of Jebel Marra District
Most international organizations consider the 26th of February 2003 as the beginning of the conflict.
