Hogback
Category: Abandoned Ski Areas
**September 2007, September/October 2008/December 2010**
Trails: Most fairly well grown in at this point, aside from the ones with hiking trails facing route 9. Outlines still visible on most recent satellite imagery though.
Lifts: All 4 original T-bars still stand in some fashion, none with T's though. Sketchy bridge that Alpenglo T-bar passed over still stands as well, though in horribly sketchy shape. Beware should you try to cross it...
Facilities: Like the T-bars, almost all of Hogback's original buildings are still standing in some fashion. The Alpenglo restaurant (on Route 9) still stands, although abandoned looking, with someone apparantly cleaning out the basement. The upstairs looked like it used to house an insurance company office or something. The buildings at the bottom of the ski area still stand entirely intact as well, with all of the T's from one of the T-bars stored inside the SMALL cafeteria/warming hut. Many of the T-bar control buildings also still stand.
Accessibility: This has to be one of the most accessible lost ski areas out there. Hiking and biking trails criss-cross the old ski area extensively, and a firetower at the summit offers AMAZING views of New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Mass. This may be one of the best lost ski areas to explore out there.
