In 1915, the Hump Hair Pin Company Building by Chicago architect Alfred Alschuler became the first factory on Prairie Avenue. Building was dedicated to the manufacturing of ladies' hairpins. In the 30's the lobby was renovated in an art-deco style, and had a 1939 addition on the north side of the building. The factory was razed in 1999 for a new townhouse development
