Kharput

Before the genocide Kharput was a calm Armenian town. However, starting July 1st the Turk's campaign against Armenian existence reached them. 2,000 Armenian soliders in the Turkish army were executed. A fear of the Turskih government was that the Armenian would somehow muster a force to fight back. So on July 7 they rounded up 800 "able-bodied" men and executed them. By July 13, 1915 there were no more Armenians in Kharput.
