La Chimba is a small village of the Kayambi culture, home to national heroine Transito Amarguaña who was instrumental in gaining education for indigenous peoples in Ecuador during the 1960s. Yanapuma works with "Condor Huasi" a local tourism group that is renovating the old hacienda.
