The reservoir made by the McNary Dam is known as Lake Wallula. It's advent unintentionally made irrigation from the Columbia much easier and has helped agriculture flourish in the Hermiston area. Lake Wallula along with McNary Dam were originally made for navigation across McNary Falls.
