Langston Hall
Category: Education
Langston Hall, a freshmen co-educational honors hall, was finished in the 1938-1939 school year. It was named for Mr. John Mercer Langston, a native Virginian, Graduate of Oberlin College, a former dean of the law school and vice-president of Howard University. He was also an ex-United States Minister to Haiti and served as the first president of the Virginia Normal and Collegiate Institute. This building was erected with funds derived from the New Deal P.W.A. loan and grants.
