Parliament House was officially opened by the Honourable Bill Hayden AC, then Governor-General of Australia, on 18 August 1994. Built on the site of the old Post office which was destoyed when Dawrin was bombed on 19 February 1942 . The official death toll was 243 people.and was the first of a further 63 bombing raids.
