Majdanek became an established death camp in October of 1942. The camp chose to murder its prisoners with carbon monoxide and zyklon B gas. There are discrepancies in the number of people were actually killed at the camp. Some think as many as 400,000 Jews and 1.5 million Soviets while others think only 350,000 people were killed in total. It was the first death camp and concentration camp to be liberated by the Societs. (July 24, 1944.)
