Police have charged a 19-year-old Manoora man following the alleged theft of a wallet. It is alleged that about 9.30am the man stole the wallet from a diner at an Esplanade eatery before running off along the Esplanade. Police located the man near the Cairns Base Hospital and he was subsequently charged with stealing as well as unlawful possession of a dangerous drug. He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on May 28.
