Man arrested following damage to vehicle, Cairns

Police have charged a 23-year-old Whiterock man following an incident that occurred on Mulgrave Road at about 2pm yesterday. It is alleged that the man was walking past a vehicle rental business when he climbed a fence and entered a vehicle storage yard. He then allegedly punched the window of a mini bus causing it to shatter. The man then exited the yard and continued walking along Mulgrave Road. He was apprehended by police and was charged with wilful damage. He was also charged with common assault and committing a public nuisance offence arising from an earlier incident and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on May 27.
